Western Ave – 103rd Street to 115th Street

The South Side Irish St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is proud to announce that the South Side Irish Parade will return on Sunday, March 11th.

In the past few months, we have worked extensively with our private security firm S3, the City of Chicago, and the Chicago Police Department creating a plan we feel will bring this great neighborhood tradition back as the family friendly event it was meant to be. Our security plan (outlined below) was created to target the problems that plagued the Parade the past few years including public intoxication, underage drinking, lack of respect for the surrounding neighborhood, and unruly spectators from outside the neighborhood.

We ask that you help support the Parade by first helping spread our message. Talk to your family, friends, & neighbors, send emails to your contact lists, and post messages on Facebook. Help us remind people that in order to successfully bring back the Parade, we need everyone’s cooperation. Second, we need volunteers – LOTS of volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering please email us at the address listed on the bottom of the page. Volunteers are needed the week before as well as during the parade. Lastly, we ask that you contribute in what ever way possible. We are taking donations, selling merchandise, raffle tickets, street pole banners, and much more. Please help where you can – every little bit counts.

Thank you for visiting our website and if you have questions or need help with something you don’t see listed on our website feel free to contact us at info@southsideirishparade.org, 773.916.SSIP (7747), or at our Parade Store – 10934a S. Western Ave.

Security Plan Outline:

  • Fines for open alcohol will be strictly enforced throughout the neighborhood

  • Security check points surrounding Parade route banning alcohol
  • Passengers will be banned from bringing alcohol on Metra Rock Island trains on Parade Day
  • North Side bars have been contacted and discouraged from chartering buses to the area
  • Busses that come into the area will be directed to specific drop-off/pick-up points designated by the Chicago Police Department and surrounding suburbs
  • Phone number available (with text messaging support) for neighbors to report problems (number will be released soon)
